The government does no physical work. They themselves, individually or collectively, are never put in harms way. Yet, their "people", those they govern, are the ones that work and generate "income" for the government. The government then gets or takes its "cut" from the people up front, even before the people see it. The people are then forced to live on what is left. Then when the people do spend what's left, the government, at several other levels, again take another cut of the people's hard earned money through a little thing called taxes.
We the people will whine, cry, scream, and yell bloody murder about jobs, taxes, education, and healthcare but never take action for implementing true change. I am here to tell you that we must educate ourselves on what the government is 'supposed' to be doing; then on what it is they 'are' doing; and 'hold them accountable' for their actions. Especially those actions that do not benefit those that they govern or provide any necessary good to the people. And if the government is not doing the job, FIRE THEM! Yes, FIRE THEM!, we the people, have that power.
